A
religious authority and a source of guidance and Fatwa for the Muslim community
in the state of Minnesota.
goals
We seek the pleasure of Allah through achieving the following goals:
1. Fatwa (issuing verdicts) and Judiciary
- To study the juristic cases of the Muslim community,
issuing religious legal verdicts (Fatwa) and responding to the
inquiries received from members of the community.
- Providing religious legal rulings for community
problems, resolving disputes and reconciling between disputing
parties.
- Issuing verdicts concerning the beginning of
the month of Ramadan and determining the time of Islamic feasts
(Eids) and seeking to unite the Muslims of Minnesota in this regard.
2. Propagation, Education, and Guidance
- Working for the unity of Muslims under the umbrella
of the correct Islamic belief (faith, creed) and straight Islamic
path, without focusing on differences that may jeopardize the
Islamic accord.
- Raising the religious awareness of the importance
and etiquettes of Islamic propagation (da'wa), stimulating and
directing the propagation work in the state of Minnesota, including
organizing conferences and seminars which will bring together
the members of the community, and establish bridges of communication
with other communities. In addition to the benefit of propagation
and dissemination of knowledge. The council will try its best
to reach to all sectors of the community of various orientations
and ages with more emphasis on youth.
- Working to establish an educational establishment
specializing in teaching Islamic sciences to members of the community.
- Coordination among the Council member imams
with regards to important subjects – that may be addressed
in the Friday sermon - in order to decrease the gaps between their
approaches and directions. The Council will arrange exchanging
visits, speeches, and lectures in their Centers, such that an
atmosphere of harmony and compassion will develop and no zeal
may be there to other than the book of Allah and the way (Sunnah)
of His Honored Messenger (S.A.A.W). The council also will embark
on bringing together all Imams in an attempt to improve the mutual
communication between all of them, and for the purpose of exchanging
expertise and working towards unity.
3. Media and Formal Representation of the Community
- The council will work on establishing a broadcasting radio station
(local), as well as, a monthly newsletter.
- The council strives to be a representative of the Muslim community
of Minnesota with formal authorities and others. This is to convey
the Islamic and Muslims’ perspective with full honesty and
trustworthiness and in a manner pleasing to Allah, exalted be
He, in addition, to attain the benefits of community from such
authorities.
